Baseball Chat Transcripts

Mike Jordan: Are there any players today who remind you of yourself?

John Wockenfuss: I always thought I was one of the better utility players in the game during my time. I really can't tell you of any players now that really remind me of myself, but I guess you could say that I played hard and any players that do that now I guess could be considered to be somewhat like me. Thanks for your time. I need to get going now in order to catch a dinner date with my family. To all Tigers fans out there, thanks for all the memories!

Mike Jordan: Mr. Banks, where is the best place to grab a bite to eat in Chicago?

Ernie Banks: A place called Harry Caray's. HOLY COW!!!

Mike Jordan: Mr. Palmer, what is your opinion of all the homeruns being hit these days?

Jim Palmer: My opinion of all the home runs, if you are a fan of offense, you've got to love it. Just remember, chicks dig the long ball -- pitchers don't. They need to level the playing field. If they are going to allow the ball to be more lively, parks to be smaller in dimensions, the hitters bigger and stronger, a reduced strike zone, pitchers that are in the majors due to expansion, they somehow need to level the playing field by raising the mound, which could reduce offense, but more than likely reduce injuries.

Mike Jordan: What is your greatest memory in your big league career?

Jim Palmer: Labor day double header 1965, 19 years old, in relief, bases loaded, struck out Mantle, Marris and Elston Howard. He was the MVP the year before.

Mike Jordan: C.J., how difficult is it to switch from one team to another?

C.J. Nitkowski: I don't have a problem with it, some guys do. I adjust easily, but having a family makes the moves somewhat a pain in the butt.

Mike Jordan: CJ, I think your website is cool. Do you enjoy maintaining it?

C.J. Nitkowski: I enjoy doing it for baseball fans.

Mike Jordan: CJ, how difficult is it to pitch in cold or rainy conditions?

C.J. Nitkowski: Straight cold doesn't bother me. Cold and wind, or rain and cold, or cold , rain, and wind, those are not fun.
