Monroe, LA (SL) -
Two former stars of the New Orleans Saints were in Monroe, LA to
meet the fans. Morten Andersen and Pat Swilling
were at Jaimie's Field of Dreams to sign autographs and take
pictures. Thanks to Jaimie and his staff for putting on a first
class event that is very fan-friendly.
Jamie's store

in Monroe, LA, stop by.

Ace Frehley of KISS
on stage at Club Fire in Jackson, MS on May 13, 2008. |
Ace Frehley of KISS appeared
at Club Fire in Jackson
Jackson, MS
(SL) - Ace Frehley, former KISS guitarist, was in Jackson at
Club Fire on May 8th. Cecilia, Walley and I went to the concert
and had a great time. The opening band was Lillian Axe and they
were just as good as the last time I saw them in the late 80's.
I met Axe's guitarist Stevie Blaze after the show and he's a
real cool individual. Ace really rocked out too and we were
basically deaf after the show. If you get the chance to see
Lillian Axe or Ace, do it!

Senior Bowl weekend in
Mobile
Mobile, AL
(SL) - Another Senior Bowl weekend has come and gone, but the
Fan Frenzy was great as usual. I was able to go through three of
the autograph lines and got some autographs, such as Andre
Woodson, Erik Ainge and Matt Forte. The autograph lines were
well organized and the players sat according to their
conference. All the players were really friendly and the lines
moved smoothly. Great job by the folks who organized the Fan
Frenzy!

New Orleans
Saints training camp in progress at Millsaps College
Jackson, MS (SL) - The New
Orleans Saints returned to Millsaps College in Jackson, MS to
participate in training camp in 2007. I've been to a few of the
practices and the Saints starters seem to be in mid-season form
already. The extreme summer heat should be an advantage for the
team this year, as it was last year. I've met some of the
players this year and everyone was quite friendly. Drew Brees is
truly a fan-favorite and he signs autographs as long as there
are fans in line. This should be another great year for Drew and
the Saints.

Deuce
McAllister and Charles Grant of the Saints meet the fans at the
Jackson Zoo
Jackson, MS (SL) - New
Orleans Saints running back, Deuce McAllister, appeared at his
annual "Deuce at the Zoo" function on Saturday, March 31, 2007.
Also appearing with Deuce was stand-out defensive lineman,
Charles Grant. The event was held at the new Mississippi
addition of the Jackson Zoo and there were hundreds of fans that
got to meet Deuce and Charles. The autograph table was,
ironically, positioned directly next to the bear exhibit. Saints
fans should remember that it was the Chicago Bears that ended
the 2006 dream season. At least, these bears weren't from
Chicago.

Falcons' running back,
Jerious Norwood, participates in charity event
Pearl, MS
(SL) - Atlanta Falcons and former Mississippi State Bulldog
running back, Jerious Norwood, was a sponsor and participant in
the annual, Big Brothers Big Sisters, "Bowl for Kids Sake",
event in Pearl. The event raised money for a great cause and
allowed everyone a chance to bowl against each other for fun.
Bryan and I were on the Grant Consulting team, thanks to Jared's
generous donation. Jared snapped the photo on the left of Bryan
and I, with Jerious and Jerious was kind enough to sign quite a
few autographs that evening. The whole night was fun and I look
forward to it again next year. |

Gene Simmons
of KISS meets the fans at Northpark Mall
Ridgeland, MS (SL) -
Bassist and vocalist of KISS, Gene Simmons, made an appearance at
the Belk store in Ridgeland on October 26, 2006. He was in town
promoting a new line of men's and women's fragrances, KISS for
her and KISS for him. I stood in line to meet Gene for almost
four hours, but it was definitely worth it. I've been a KISS fan
for many, many years and Gene was extremely cool.

New Orleans Saints have
training camp at Millsaps in Jackson
Jackson, MS
(SL) - The New Orleans Saints made Millsaps College in Jackson
their home for training camp in August, 2006. I went to five of
the practices and endured the intense heat to check out the
team, under first year coach, Sean Payton. After every practice,
a few of the players would come over and sign autographs. Some,
like Joe Horn, Fred McAfee and Deuce McAllister, would stay
until everyone had something signed. The whole training camp
experience was fan-friendly and the location was perfect. Go

Jackson, MS (SL) -
The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame celebrated it's tenth
anniversary on July 29, 2006. The new HOF inductees, along with
many of the current hall of famers met the public at the museum.
I was able to meet Dallas Cowboys' great, D.D. Lewis and chatted
for awhile. Among the others, were Ray Perkins, Bailey Howell,
Johnnie Cooks and Ray Brown. It was a great event and was
enjoyed by all who attended.

North defeats South in the
2006 Senior Bowl.
Mobile, AL (SL)
- The North rode the arm of Clemson’s Charlie Whitehurst, the
legs of Penn State’s Michael Robinson and some outstanding
defensive plays to score a 31-14 win over the South in the 57th
annual Senior Bowl, presented by Food World, Saturday afternoon in
Mobile.
However, it was a South player,
Miami receiver Sinorice Moss, who won the game’s MVP Award with an
impressive effort which included three receptions for 45 and a
touchdown and a 27-yard gain on a reverse.
The contest was played before the
game’s 12th consecutive sellout crowd, as 40,646 fans filled
Ladd-Peebles Stadium for the game. |

Magnolia
Grid-Iron Classic makes debut in Jackson
Jackson, MS (SL) -
The Inaugural Magnolia Grid-Iron Classic was played in Jackson on
December 24, 2005. The I-A team defeated the I-AA team 19-7. The
weather conditions were terrible with a cold rain, so I only stayed
until the 2nd quarter. There were only about 100 fans in
attendance, but the game itself was a success. I was able to take a
few photos which are posted on this site. Hopefully, next year's
game will have a little more promotion and better weather.
